Spell Check Reports help identify potential spelling errors across your website.
DubBot reviews page content and highlights words that may be misspelled or are not recognized by its dictionary. These reports can help website managers identify genuine spelling errors before they affect visitors and improve the overall quality of website content.
Because automated spell checking cannot always determine meaning or context, human review is an important part of the process.
Reviewing Spell Check Reports
When reviewing a reported spelling issue, start by evaluating the word in context.
Some reports identify genuine typographical errors that should be corrected. Others may identify words that are spelled correctly but are not included in DubBot's dictionary.
For this reason, Spell Check Reports should be viewed as a starting point for review rather than a list of confirmed errors.
Common Spell Check Issues
Examples of content commonly identified in Spell Check Reports include:
- Typographical errors
- Misspelled words
- Proper nouns
- Building names
- Department names
- Program names
- Regional or specialized terminology
DubBot highlights the reported word directly within the page report and often provides suggested alternatives when possible.
Review the Editorial Style Guide for more Tulane-specific terminology.
Using the Site Dictionary
One of the most useful features of Spell Check Reports is the Site Dictionary.
The Site Dictionary allows approved words to be added to a website-specific dictionary so they are no longer flagged during future scans.
Examples of words that may be good candidates for the Site Dictionary include:
- Tulane-specific terminology
- Program and building names
- Proper nouns
- Common New Orleans terminology
- Frequently used organizational terms
Once a word has been added to the Site Dictionary, DubBot will stop reporting that word across the site.
Because of this, words should be reviewed carefully before being added.
Available actions may vary depending on your DubBot role and permissions.
Ignore on this Page vs. Add to Site Dictionary
Spell Check Reports may provide options such as:
- Ignore on this Page - Use this option when a word appears on a single page and is unlikely to be used elsewhere on the site.
- Add to Site Dictionary - Use this option when a word is correct, approved and expected to appear regularly across the website.
Adding words to the Site Dictionary can help reduce repetitive reports and allow website managers to focus on genuine spelling issues.

DubBot Spell Check Reports Video Transcript
Welcome back to the DubBot Training Series. In this video, we will explore Spell Check Reports.
Spell Check Reports help identify possible spelling errors across your website. They can help catch genuine mistakes, but they can also identify words that are correct but not recognized by DubBot's dictionary.
Because of that, human review is always important.
Let's begin with a genuine spelling issue.
In this example, DubBot has flagged the word "managment." The report highlights the word directly on the page and provides suggested alternatives.
When reviewing spelling errors, I recommend first checking the word in context. In this case, "management" is misspelled and should be corrected. DubBot's suggestions help identify the likely intended spelling, making it easy to correct the issue in Drupal.
Not every spelling report represents a mistake.
Here we have the word crawfish.
This is a legitimate word, but DubBot does not recognize it in the default dictionary and has flagged it for review.
This is one of the most common situations you will encounter in Spell Check Reports.
The Actions menu provides several options, including Ignore on this Page and Add to Site Dictionary.
Your options may vary depending on your role.
Ignore on this Page is useful when a word appears on a single page and you do not expect to use it elsewhere. In contrast, Add to Site Dictionary tells DubBot to stop questioning that word across your entire site.
Because of that, it's important to review the spelling carefully before adding a word to the dictionary.
I generally recommend using Add to Site Dictionary for approved terms that appear regularly, such as department names, building names, program names, proper nouns, Tulane-specific terminology or regional words like crawfish.
Once a word has been added to the Site Dictionary, DubBot will no longer flag it across your site. This can significantly reduce repetitive reports and make it easier to focus on genuine spelling issues.
After correcting a spelling issue or updating the Site Dictionary, Refresh Content retrieves an updated copy of the page from the live website, or you can simply wait for the next time DubBot crawls your site.
Analyze reruns DubBot tests against content it has already stored. For most spelling corrections, Refresh Content will be the option you use most often.
That concludes our overview of Spell Check Reports in DubBot.
Remember the key takeaways from this session. Review spelling suggestions in context, correct genuine misspellings, use Ignore on this Page for one-time exceptions and use Add to Site Dictionary for approved terms that appear regularly across your website.
Be thoughtful when adding words to the Site Dictionary. Once added, DubBot will stop questioning those words throughout your site.
