We are pleased to announce that Libby Eckhardt, former chief communications officer for Ohio State’s College of Arts and Sciences, is Tulane’s new vice president for University Communications and Marketing. She replaces former Vice President of Communications and Marketing Debbie Grant, who retired in February after 35 years of extraordinary service to Tulane University.
Libby comes to Tulane with more than 17 years of experience in marketing, communications and strategic planning. She brings an impressive record of achievement in elevating awareness and reputation, driving fundraising, enhancing student recruitment and engagement and implementing marketing technology solutions.
Libby, who served in her previous position for nearly a decade, was hired to help establish the new College of Arts and Sciences, which was formed through the unification of five colleges. This effort required building a marketing and communications infrastructure from the ground up, leading the design, implementation and ongoing support of an ADA-compliant Drupal website platform and an online training program that supports more than 150 websites and thousands of users. Libby played a major role in increasing media coverage for Ohio State’s College of Arts and Sciences.
Prior to her current role, Libby was the director of marketing and communications for Facilities, Operations and Development at Ohio State University. She has also served as an account executive for Lorz Communications, where she designed and delivered 17 adoption magazines annually, oversaw a multi-million-dollar project for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and developed a CRM program to support inquiries from the AdoptOhio website. Libby earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio State University.
Libby is a creative, engaging and energetic leader. We know you will enjoy working with her as she leads the effort to advance Tulane’s reputation, engage our constituents, promote our achievements, highlight our impact and inspire support from the community.
Please join us in welcoming Libby to her new home.
