Web Communications at Tulane supports a cohesive visual identity and branding strategy for Tulane University through online communications. We maintain the main website, select administrative websites, and special campaign websites for high-profile community issues. We are currently migrating university websites from the content management system CommonSpot to Drupal, and we provide support for both platforms during this transition.
Additionally, the team manages the university's primary social media accounts and consults with other campus social media managers to share best practices. Web Communications also manages all campus-wide email messaging and selected campaigns to external audiences.
The Office of Web Communications manages accounts on the CommonSpot content management system (CMS) and provides access to contributors who are awaiting Drupal migration. As we continue that transition, we are working with website administrators at various schools on top-level training and site development in Drupal. Web Communications staff will work with you to prepare your content for the migration, reviewing your navigation and content to determine how it will best fit into the Drupal template suite. We can provide assistance with the migration of some of your pages and will reserve others for you to use in a training exercise. Some group training will be held for groups of departments within schools where sites are relatively consistent. In most cases, training is one-on-one or in small groups.
We encourage the Tulane community to take advantage of our free services. In cases where an outside vendor must be hired, it is advised that your proposed vendor speak with Web Communications about the required workflow procedure, template suite and other guidelines prior to signing a contract.
Monthly tweetups provide opportunities for campus social media managers to share insights and best practices and also ensure that accounts bearing the Tulane brand are consistent with university messaging and follow the social media guidelines. We offer consulting services to help you analyze and improve the success of your social communications. And we maintain a directory of Tulane social media accounts. We are happy to assist your department in developing your social media presence, and share with you our knowledge of the latest tips, tricks and tools.
Our goal is to is to foster a cohesive presence on all Tulane websites. We recognize that different sites within Tulane.edu have different audiences and goals, but visitors should always know when they are on a Tulane University website and benefit from predictable navigation structures and consistent design. We will be happy to work with you to understand your needs and present your ideas online in a way that is consistent with the online brand.
