DubBot SEO Reports

SEO Reports help identify technical search engine optimization (SEO) issues that may affect how search engines and social media platforms understand, display and index your content.

DubBot is not a comprehensive SEO platform and does not replace keyword research, content strategy or analytics reporting. However, it can help identify common issues that may affect search visibility or how content appears when shared online.

SEO Reports are particularly useful for identifying missing metadata and other technical elements that help describe your content to search engines and social media platforms.

Common SEO Issues

Some of the most common SEO issues identified in DubBot include:

  • Missing page descriptions
  • Page titles that are too short
  • Page titles that are too long
  • Missing H1 headings
  • Missing metadata

DubBot explains why each issue matters and provides recommendations for improving the affected content.

Analytics Information (GA4)

Some SEO page reports include limited Google Analytics information.

This can provide a quick overview of page activity and engagement directly within DubBot.

However, DubBot's Analytics information is not intended to replace reporting within Google Analytics itself.

DubBot SEO Reports Video Transcript

Welcome back to the DubBot Training Series. In this video, we will explore SEO Reports.

DubBot provides a set of basic technical SEO checks that help identify opportunities to improve how your content appears in search engines and on social media. While DubBot is not a complete SEO platform, it is a useful tool for identifying common issues and making sure important metadata is present.

Here we can see several common SEO checks, including page descriptions that are missing, page titles that are too long, page titles that are too short and pages that are missing an H1 heading.

Today we'll focus on one of the most common issues across DubBot reports: Page description is missing.

This page has been flagged because the page description is missing.

On the left side of the report, DubBot explains why page descriptions are so important. Search engines often use these descriptions when displaying search results, and social media platforms frequently use them when generating link previews.

Even if the page itself looks perfectly fine to visitors, missing metadata can make it more difficult for search engines and other systems to understand and accurately represent your content.

Metadata is information about your content that exists behind the scenes.

The page title, page description and preview image all help search engines and social media platforms understand what a page is about.

Think of metadata as the information that helps other systems describe your content before a visitor actually opens the page.

For most content creators, the good news is that you do not need to write code. Drupal automatically generates much of this information when the appropriate fields are completed.

For this careers page, for example, a page description might be:
"Explore career opportunities within Tulane University's Communications and Marketing team and help tell the Tulane story through strategic communications, creative services, digital content and marketing initiatives."

This description clearly summarizes the content of the page and provides useful context for search engines and visitors.

To resolve this issue, I'll open the page in Drupal.

Different content types store metadata in different locations. For Universal Pages, the Summary field is typically the most important field to review. For Article pages, click Edit Summary above the Body field to provide a description that can be used for metadata.

By adding a concise description to the appropriate summary field and saving the page, Drupal can generate the metadata needed for the page.

If you have completed the appropriate summary, description or image fields and DubBot is still reporting missing metadata, contact the UCM Web Team. Additional configuration may be required to ensure your site is generating metadata correctly.

SEO page reports also include a small amount of Google Analytics information.

This data can provide a quick overview of page activity and engagement.

However, it is not intended to replace reporting directly within Google Analytics.

That concludes our overview of SEO Reports in DubBot.

Remember the key takeaways from this session. Pay attention to missing page descriptions and make sure important metadata fields are populated. Review content in Drupal and contact the UCM Web Team if metadata issues do not clear after updating your content.
