Visual Media Best Practices

**UCM Content Policy**

We prioritize projects that showcase Tulane's unique contributions to research, education, public service, and community involvement. Content that has a limited scope, is overly commercial, or does not align with our branding or institutional goals may not be approved for production or distribution.

All photo and video requests must align with Tulane University's mission and values. If the requested content cannot be used university-wide for marketing, communications, or storytelling purposes—especially if it does not support or highlight Tulane's mission of fostering academic excellence, civic engagement, and global impact—the request may be denied.

UCM reserves the right to deny any photo and video request that does not meet these standards.

If we are unable to take on your project, we are happy to provide resource recommendations, including trusted freelancers and external agencies, who may be able to support your visual media needs. Parameters for UCM Video/Photo Projects vs.

Outsourcing:

  • Will university leadership be in attendance (events) or prominently featured in the deliverable?
  • Does the project align with current institutional priorities? Is the messaging clear and focused on these goals?
  • We consult with our social, editorial, and media relations teams within UCM to determine if flagship channels will cover the event, requiring photo or video coverage.
  • Finally, we assess staff availability, balancing this project with other major institutional events or needs (e.g., convocation, commencement, State of the University address, homecoming, etc.).
